Common questions

I locked myself out. How do I unlock?

If you set an unlock password with a trusted person, ask them to enter it in the Lock tab. If you did not set a password, use the cooling-off period: go to Lock and tap "Start cooldown to unlock." Once the timer runs out, the unlock button becomes available.

Why can Safari still open even with it blocked?

Apple does not allow third-party apps to block Safari as an app. Tarn can block all web browsing inside Safari (every website shows the Tarn screen), but the app icon itself remains tappable. This is a limitation of Apple's Screen Time framework for self-restriction.

Why are Phone and Messages always available?

Apple exempts Phone and Messages from third-party Screen Time restrictions. This is intentional and cannot be changed by Tarn.

Will my settings survive an app update?

Yes. All settings are stored in a shared app group that persists across in-place app updates.

Does Tarn use any network connection?

No. Tarn makes zero network requests. Everything runs on your device.
